How does Zyro decide which cohort a visitor belongs to?

Zyro reads each visit's traffic source, UTM and referrer, campaign, device, and returning status, then assigns the visitor to a cohort using rules plus behavior. Each cohort gets its own funnel and its own tests.

Can I run a different A/B test for each cohort?

Yes. Zyro runs per-source and per-intent A/B tests so a version that wins with Instagram traffic and loses with Google traffic does not get averaged into one wrong answer. Losing versions pause themselves automatically.

Do I need a developer to set up segmented funnels?

No. You paste one snippet the same way you added Google Analytics, or use the 1-click app for Shopify and WooCommerce. Cohorts and tests are managed in plain English in your dashboard.
