In the Shopify app, open the Customs tab and find the Tariff exposure card. It reads each product's HS code, country of origin and cost from Shopify, and works out the import duty to bring it into the US. Every number is an estimate and is marked est.
What you see
- Import duty a month at your store's own pace, as a low to high range.
- Products that lose money after duties. "Loses money" means even the low end of the duty makes a sale lose money. "May lose" means only the high end does.
- Coverage: how many product variants have both a country of origin and an HS code.
- A table per product: origin, duty %, duty per unit, and profit per sale before and after duties. Tap a duty % to see each part: the program, its rate, the date it started, a link to its source and the date Zyro checked it. A Check chip marks a rate Zyro is not sure of.
Where the rates come from
- Normal duty: the "General" rate of every US 8-digit tariff line, 11,414 in all, from the USITC Harmonized Tariff Schedule, 2026 Revision 21.
- Section 301 forced-labor duty: 10% or 12.5% on goods from 60 economies, in force since 24 Jul 2026. For the EU, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Switzerland it is a cap that includes the normal duty.
- Section 301 Brazil: 25% on most goods from Brazil, since 22 Jul 2026.
- Section 338: 50% on listed Canadian alcohol, dairy and cars, since 22 Aug 2026.
- Section 301 China lists: shown as 0 to 25%, because Zyro can't tell yet which list each code is on.
- Canadian stores also see Canada's counter-tariffs on US-made goods.
Each rate comes from its official source (the USITC or the Federal Register notice) and was checked on 29 Oct 2026. Goods made in your home market pay no import duty.
Your own numbers
Under Your numbers, type your own duty % and your freight per unit, for all products or for goods from one country. The most specific one wins, and your rate replaces Zyro's (it shows as Yours). This is also how to add rates for imports into countries other than the US, which Zyro does not have built in.
Try a duty rate
- Open Try a duty rate on the Tariff exposure card.
- Pick a country of origin and a rate, such as "if total duty on goods from Vietnam were 30%".
- Read the result: the products that would lose money (and how many already do), the change in monthly profit at your pace, and for each product the price that keeps today's profit per sale, rounded up to your usual price ending.
Check stock at risk shows the units you have on hand of the losing products, and their value at cost. It asks for product and stock access first. Try a duty rate is on Starter and up.
Duties in Profit
The switch Count import duties in product cost (est.) is off by default. Turn it on only if the costs you typed leave duties out. Zyro then adds each product's estimated duty (the middle of its range) and freight per unit to its cost in Profit, the safe discount and the list of products that lose money.
What is not counted
- A per-unit or per-kilo part of a duty. Zyro counts the percent and says when there is more.
- Section 232 metals duty. Products in chapters 72 to 76 get a note instead.
- Product exemptions in the Section 301 actions, and whether goods from Canada or Mexico enter duty-free under USMCA.
- Carrier and broker fees.
A 6-digit HS code covers several US lines, so the duty stays a range until you add the US 10-digit code. Zyro never turns a range into one number. This is an estimate, not legal advice.
If it doesn't work
- No money shown. The product needs a cost: one you type in Zyro, or Shopify's Cost per item.
- Duty not known. The product has no HS code. Add one under More checks on the Customs tab. See HS codes.
- A wide range. Add the US 10-digit code under Country codes.
- No origin. Only the normal duty is counted until the product has a country of origin.
