Already use Google Tag Manager? You can add Zyro there instead of editing your site's code. Pick one method: Tag Manager or the pasted snippet, not both.
Steps
- Copy your snippet. In Zyro, open My sites, choose Get script, then Copy.
- Create a tag. In Tag Manager, open your website's container. Go to Tags > New > Tag Configuration and choose Custom HTML. Paste the snippet.
- Fire it on every page. Under Triggering, choose All Pages. Initialization - All Pages also works and loads a little earlier.
- Publish. Save the tag, then choose Submit and Publish. The tag only runs on your live site after you publish.
- Check with a real visit. Open your site in a normal browser tab and visit a page. The first real visit marks your site as verified, and My sites shows Active.
The Verify installation button reads your page's HTML. Tag Manager adds the snippet after the page loads, so the button can't see it, even when tracking works. Use a real visit instead.
If your site pushes a purchase event with a value to the data layer, Zyro records the sale from it.
If it doesn't work
- Use Preview. Tag Manager's Preview mode shows whether the Zyro tag fired on each page.
- Container missing on some pages. The Tag Manager container code must be on every page of your site.
- Domain mismatch. Visits only count from the domain saved in My sites. Update it there if you moved.
- Blockers. Some ad blockers stop Tag Manager from loading. Test in a browser window without them.
- Still says Pending Verification. Wait a minute after your visit, then refresh My sites.
